Bellis | Architects were appointed by North London Scout District to prepare proposals for a new multi-purpose hall on footprint of current dilapidated hall that was nestled in the middle of their Scout Park within a Nature Reserve off Gordon Road in Bounds Green.
We secured planning approval for a replacement building with the design drawing reference from the park landscape through the use of timber as the main as the external cladding reflecting the natural surrounding landscape.
A number of ecological surveys needed to be carried out to support the application to ensure that any bats, great crested newts, reptiles etc and their habitat would not be harmed as part of this development.
Exposed timber columns to the south elevation of the building where proposed to provide a visual presence and support the extended roof which acted as a canopy over the entrance and offering solar shading to the south facing windows, the columns were to maintain the natural shapes and size of the adjacent trees to mirror the landscape that surrounds the building.
